Tensions Ease as Community Leaders Work to Change Narrative on Southwest Side-June 2024

Community leaders in some South and Southwest side neighborhoods are trying to quell racial tensions following several recent reports of alleged Latino gang members targeting African Americans with violence. Those reports prompted a large outcry and many organized shows of unity.

We spent the day in the South Side neighborhood of Pilsen, the Southwest Side neighborhood of Little Village, and suburban Cicero for a view from the ground.
