Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White has announced his office will be cracking down this holiday season on the abuse of disability parking placards at shopping malls.

Parking lot stings will target drivers misusing a placard, as well as those who park in an accessible space without a disability placard or license plate.

Scofflaws face up to a six-month driver’s license suspension and $600 fine.

The stings kick off Black Friday at Woodfield Mall and will take place statewide in the coming weeks, according to White’s office.
