Prolific documentary filmmaker Liz Garbus and her company, Story Syndicate, have signed with CAA for representation.

Garbus and Dan Cogan founded Story Syndicate in 2019. The company has produced a host of feature documentaries and series over the past six years, including recent releases One Night in Idaho: The College Murders for Prime Video, Titan: The OceanGate Disaster and Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer for Netflix and Number One on the Call Sheet for Apple TV+. Story Syndicates productions also include Harry Meghan, Becoming Cousteau and Ill Be Gone in the Dark. Story Syndicate is also working on a Billie Jean King documentary for ESPN, co-directed by Garbus and Elizabeth Wolff, and series projects at Roku and Prime Video. The company also has ventured into the scripted realm via a first-look deal with Tomorrow Studios, a partnership with ITV Studios.

Garbus is a two-time Emmy winner for directing What Happened, Miss Simone? for Netflix in 2016 and for best nonfiction special for The Farm: Angola, USA in 1999 (she also earned Oscar nominations for both films). She also landed an Emmy nomination in 2021 for directing an episode of The Handmaids Tale and has helmed episodes of Yellowjackets and Good American Family.

Cogan won an Oscar in 2018 for best documentary feature for Icarus and an Emmy in 2020 for the HBO doc The Apollo. Prior to teaming up with Garbus on Story Syndicate, he founded Impact Partners and executive produced documentaries including Wont You Be My Neighbor? and The Hunting Ground, among many others, and multiple episodes of PBS P.O.V.
