IMDb Adds New Credit Categories for Intimacy Coordination, Voice Acting and Choreography-December 2024
Dec 27, 2025 12:58 AM

IMDb has taken steps to highlight a broader range of professions in Hollywood.

The widely used film and television database announced Wednesday that it is inaugurating 12 new credit categories on its name and title pages. As part of this effort to acknowledge the breadth of work in Hollywood, the company additionally is now accepting credits for dubbing foreign-language projects in seven different languages.

Those professions and departments getting some extra IMDb recognition? Choreography, the color department, craft services, the health and safety department, intimacy coordination, legal, the production department, production finance and accounting, the property department, publicity, puppetry and dubbing. Those titles and departments were previously listed under the Additional Crew category, below categories like Director, Cast and Editors.

The company worked with an array of industry unions and organizations with a vested interest in spotlighting their members work, including the Choreographers Guild, SAG-AFTRA and the National Association of Voice Actors, to make the changes.

Our vision is to ensure every profession involved in making movies and TV shows receives equal recognition, IMDb CEONikki Santoro said in a statement. Were grateful to our IMDbPro customers and industry collaborators who helped shape these updates, and we look forward to continuing this important work together.

The new professional categories have begun to appear on IMDb pages, with the company stating that all changes should take effect by the end of the day on Sunday. Voice actors can now submit dubbing credits on their IMDb profiles.

In a statement, SAG-AFTRA president Sean Astin noted that in many ways the industry treats IMDb professional pages as informal resums and so these new categories will help his unions members better reflect their work history.

When our members work on a production, its important that they be credited in the right way not just because it feels good to see our names connected to our titles, but because its a professional resource that the community looks to, to be informed, he said. This is an important step toward creating an accurate and more inclusive reflection of the industry we all create, and we thank them for working to ensure that every contributor to a production is visible and valued in their own right.
