Disney’s Erin Barrier Promoted to Senior Vice President of Communications-April 2024

Disney veteran Erin Barrier is moving up at the company, where she has been named senior vice president of communications for The Walt Disney Studios.

In her new role, Barrier will oversee global communications strategy across the companys sprawling production banners. That includes Disney, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, 20th Century Studios, and Searchlight Pictures; Disney Theatrical Group; and Disney Music Group.

The well-liked executive steps into the role previously held by Paul Roeder, whom new Disney CEO Josh DAmaro elevated earlier this month to be the companys communications chief.

Barrier is a 13-year veteran of Disney, and most recently held the position of vice president of communications for The Walt Disney Studios, leading corporate communications and playing a key role in its campaigns.

Other roles at Disney included serving as president of communications for consumer products, where she oversaw campaigns for Frozen Fan Fest,Star Wars: Force Friday,Pixar Fest, andBlack Panther: Welcome to Wakanda. Before that, she held other leadership roles in the consumer products division.

Barrier started her career at Golin, rising to senior account supervisor before joining Disney in 2012. She holds a B.A. in communications and a minor in political science from San Diego State University.
