In its second to last week on Broadway, The Wiz brought in close to $1.7 million, its highest tally of its run so far, putting it within the top five in the industry for the week.

The revival, which features a revised book by Amber Ruffin, has been running at the Marquis Theatre since March 29 and is scheduled to close Aug. 18. Wicked with $2.23 million, The Lion King with $2.14 million and one of its performances fully comped, and Hamilton with $1.96 million, were the three highest grossing musicals for the week.

Similarly, the dance musical Illinoise, which is based on the album by Sufjan Stevens, ended its run on Aug. 10, with a weekly total of close to $1.2 million, its highest of the run so far. The show, which won a Tony Award for best choreography, began previews at the St. James Theatre on April 24. The Outsiders finally ended its weekly box office record-breaking streak, after the Tony Award win for best musical. The show still brought in high numbers, with the musicals grosses coming in at $1.49 million for the week, $1,376 below the prior weeks total. Capacity remained high at more than 102 percent.

Overall, all 26 Broadway productions cumulatively made $30,768,450, which was largely flat with the prior week.The industry is prepping for its busy fall season, which will see The Roommate, starring Mia Farrow and Patti LuPone, opening Sept. 12, the Jez Butterworth play, The Hills of California, opening Sept. 29 and the Robert Downey Jr.-led play, McNeal, opening Sept. 30.

Once Upon A Mattress, starring Sutton Foster, Michael Urie and Ana Gasteyer, opened Aug. 12.
