Hamilton brought in $3.8 million last week as the Leslie Odom Jr.-boost continues.
The musical, which recently saw Odom return to the role of Aaron Burr, was the top-grossing show in the industry last week, as ticket prices also inched up to $350 and attendance stayed above 100 percent.
Among the new entrants on Broadway, Art, starring James Corden, Neil Patrick Harris and Bobby Cannavale, jumped into the top five, ranking as the third highest grossing show last week, as the show brought in $1.7 million across eight performances and saw an average ticket price of $205, with capacity at 100 percent. Waiting for Godot, another popular celebrity-driven property, also brought in a strong $1.6 million last week, despite several press performances last week with comped tickets and an opening night on Sept. 28. The play, starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter at the Hudson Theatre, received mixed reviews from critics for its spare staging and direction from Jamie Lloyd.
And Ragtime began previews at the nonprofit Vivian Beaumont Theatre last week, in a much-anticipated transfer after running Off-Broadway at New York City Center last fall. The musical brought in just above $450,000 across three performances, with an average ticket price of $142.94 and played to 100 percent capacity. The musical revival is scheduled to open Oct. 16.
Wicked brought in $2 million as the second highest grossing show last week, while Mamma Mia! brought in $1.6 million as the fourth highest grossing show.
