Disney is planning to reevaluate its slate of films and TV shows from Marvel Studios, with the company set to reduce its output from the comic book franchise studio.

On Disneys fiscal Q2 earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger told analysts that the company is finally moving away from a vestige, basically a desire in the past to increase volume.

Ive been working hard with the studio to reduce output and focus more on quality, thats particularly true with Marvel, he added. What will that mean for Marvels upcoming films and TV shows? This years slate, highlighted by Deadpool Wolverine, wont be impacted, but it will be felt in future years.

Were slowly going to decrease volume and go to probably about two TV series a year instead of what had become four, and reduce our film output from maybe four a year to two or at the maximum three, Iger added.
