Adam McKay Signs With CAA-August 2024

Oscar winning director and producer Adam McKay has signed with CAA for representation.

McKays credits include Netflixs Dont Look Up, a disaster movie abouta planet-killing comet hurtling toward Earth that stands in as a metaphor for the climate crisis; Vice, which nabbed eight Academy Award nominations and The Big Short,which netted the Hollywood veteran an Oscar.

Upcoming feature projects include Sony Pictures untitled thriller from writer director Tommy Wirkola, starring Phoebe Dynevor, Whitney Peak, and Djimon Hounsou, and the HBO comedy series The Chair Company, with Tim Robinson starring and writing. McKay also produced Searchlight Pictures The Menuand the social thriller Fresh, and he executive produced Olivia Wildes directorial debutBooksmart, NetflixsDead to Meand Lorene ScafariasHustlers.

For TV, McKay executive produced the hit HBO showSuccessionand directed the pilot. He also executive produced and directed the pilot of HBOs drama seriesWinning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. And McKay executive produced HBOsPainting with Johnand the HBO documentariesQ: Into the Storm, 537 Votes, Wild Wild Space,andMoney Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery.

And he executive produced the Hulu documentary filmGod Forbid: The Sex Scandal That Brought Down a Dynasty. Upcoming work includes a limited TV series from McKay and Bong Joon Ho, inspired by Oscar best picture winner Parasite.

McKay will also produce the Imax climate crisis documentary featureStormbound, which follows Florida weather spotter Jeff Gammons into the dangerous world of storm chasing during peak U.S. storm season. That follows McKay increasingly expressing concern over global environmental change and damage.

McKay has produced original podcasts like the investigative seriesBroken: Seeking Justice,featuring Julie K. Brown and numerous survivors of Jeffrey Epsteins abuse. Other podcasts includeBedtime Stories with Adam McKay, Death at the Wing, andDeath on the Lot.

Hyperobject Industries includes McKays long-time producer, Kevin Messick, and producers Todd Schulman, Betsy Koch and Maeve Cullinane.

In May 2023,McKay founded Yellow Dot Studios with managing director Staci Roberts-Steele,a non-profit media organization to challenge disinformation about the climate crisis through videos.

He continues to be represented by attorney Matt Johnson at JSSK.
