Focus Features used part of its CinemaCon presentation to debut the first look at Yorgos Lanthimos new film, Bugonia.

Bugonia stars frequent (and Oscar winning) collaborator Emma Stone opposite Jesse Plemons with whom she starred in Lanthimoss last film Kinds of Kindness. The script from Will Tracy follows two conspiracy-obsessed young men who kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major company, convinced that she is an alien intent on destroying planet Earth. Aidan Delbis, Stavros Halkias and Alicia Silverstone found out the cast. In what turned out to be a very brief teaser, the footage opened with scenes from a garden showing colorful flowers and buzzing bees flying to and fro. An ominous voiceover can be heard detailing the magnificent process of pollination. The workers gather pollen for the queen, he says. A third of our food is pollinated this way, but the bees are dying. The voiceover continues by saying that as the workers desert the queen, the colony wastes away.

The scenes that flashed on the screen showed Plemons character as some kind of blue collar technical worker. Later, Stones character is seen exiting a flashy mansion, looking very much a high-powered CEO. Later, from afar, she is seen being tackled into a set of bushes outside a window, presumably as part of the kidnapping. Then, under captivity, her head is being shaved. A later scene shows a bald Stone appearing scared and pale.

Its based on the 2003 South Korean sci-fi comedy, Save the Green Planet. The English-language version was developed by Miky Lees CJ ENM with Midsommar director Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen at Square Peg. Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe are producing for Element Pictures along with Lanthimos, Aster, Knudsen, Stone, and Lee and Jerry Kyoungboum Ko for CJ ENM.

Bugonia hits theaters on Nov. 7.
