The first look at a four-part, authorized documentary about the life and work of Tim Burton has been unveiled.
The documentary, from director Tara Wood (21 Years: Richard Linklater), features some of the biggest stars to appear in Burtons filmography.
Among them are frequent collaborator Johnny Depp (Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Alice in Wonderland), Winona Ryder (Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice and its sequel), Helena Bonham Carter (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd and Burtons ex-partner) and Michael Keaton (Batman, Batman Returns). Frequent Burton film composer Danny Elfman also appears in the doc.
I would love to take a trip inside his brain this kingdom where these characters live, says Ryder in the preview.
Hes an auteur, hes a visionary, hes an artist with images and thoughts, notes Depp. Hes got a lot going on in there. Tim is the real thing.
The still-untitled series marks the first time the famed director has supported a project about his work and includes exclusive interviews, unpublished artworks and a never-before-seen stop-motion short film, according a statement.
Part 1 of the series already screened at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival.
Tim tells his life story through his filmography, and the doc takes us on a truly inspiring journey through decades of cinematic history, filled with deep personal insights, passions, and struggles, Wood says.
Producers are Wood, Joe Clarke and Jake Zortman. Executive producers are Allen Gilmer, Riki Rushing, Berge Garabedian andRobert C. McGirr and Lorraine Lamb.
