Why Timothée Chalamet Says He Got a $79 Fine After Riding a Bike to ‘A Complete Unknown’ London Premiere-March 2024

It seems Timothe Chalamet needs to stick to rolling up to movie premieres in cars.

Earlier this week, the actor went viral for arriving at the London premiere of A Complete Unknown on a Lime bike. In photos shared online (below), Chalamet could be seen sporting a navy blue suit, paired with a lime green and white bike.

Lime bikes are electric bicycles that can be rented in major cities from the Lime transportation company.

However, he recently revealed on the talk show Quotidien, while promoting the biopic in France, that he actually got a 65 pound fine that night, which equates to $79.53, for not parking the bike properly. Chalamet explained that while a bike is more eco-friendly, he actually opted out of taking a car to make it to the premiere on time as there was a traffic jam. And though he made it to the premiere, it ultimately cost him.

It was horrible, because it was actually kind of an advert for them [Lime], the Wonka actor quipped.

The Hollywood Reporter (@THR) January 14, 2025 A Complete Unknown sees Chalamet portray legendary musician Bob Dylan. The film, set in 1961, follows the 19-year-old then-unknown musician as he arrives in New York City with his guitar and forges relationships with music icons on his meteoric rise, culminating in a groundbreaking performance that reverberates worldwide.

The movie, directed by James Mangold, has also already proved to be a top awards contender this season. Chalamet was nominated for best actor in a motion picture drama at the 2025 Golden Globes (the award ultimately went toAdrien Brody for The Brutalist). The Hollywood Reporters Scott Feinberg also has the actor at the top of his predictions for this years best actor Oscar noms.
