The country mourns the death of 6-year-old Wadea Al-Fayoume as the Justice Department launches a federal hate crime investigation into the fatal stabbing.

An Evanston mother and daughter held hostage by Hamas have been released, according to Israel.

Chaos erupted over the proposed Brighton Park site for a “winterized base camp” for migrants, leaving Ald. Julia Ramirez (12th Ward) and an aide battered.

And hearings began this week for Mayor Brandon Johnson’s proposed $16.6 billion budget plan.
