Vice Media Hires Comms Chief As It Plots Next Production Moves-December 2024

Emily Spence has been named as the chief communications officer for Vice Media.

Spence will oversee global communications for Vice Studios, Vice Commercials, Vice Sports, Vice TV and Vice Digital, among other assets. Emily is one of the most talented communicators Ive had the pleasure of working with and Im excited to have her join Vice at this moment of growth as we sharpen our focus and build whats next across the Vice portfolio, Vice CEO Adam Stotsky said in a statement.

Her hire follows Vice Media emerging from bankruptcy protection under the ownership of Fortress Investment Group, Soros Capital Management and Monroe Capital.Vice Group Holding filedfor Chapter 11 bankruptcyon May 15, 2023 and had at the time liabilities in the range of between $500 million and $1 billion. Spence most recently had her own communications consultancy, and before that served as chief communications officer for MRC, where she worked alongside Stotsky as part of a media group that includedBillboardandThe Hollywood Reporter and events producer Dick Clark Productions.

Earlier communications clients for Spence included Amazon Studios, BuzzFeed, Warner Bros. Television, Meredith Corporation, Microsoft, among others. Vice has long been a powerful storytelling force and I look forward to again working alongside Adam, as well as the broader leadership team, as we define the next era of this storied brand, Spence said in her own statement.

Vice recently closed a $75 million credit facility with Western Alliance Bank and Fortress to fund content development and production across TV, streaming and digital content platforms.

Upcoming releases include the Vice Studios feature Bad Apples, starring Saoirse Ronan, set for a world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, and Hulus 8-part heavy-metal docuseries Into The Void.
