UTA Sees Two Major Departures, Undergoes Cuts
UTA Sees Two Major Departures, Undergoes Cuts-May 2024
May 20, 2025 7:18 AM

Its the time of the season for end-of-the-year budget decisionmaking around Hollywood, in a year thats already seen cutbacks across the industry, from the C-suite to administrative roles.

United Talent Agency, the Beverly Hills-based Big 3 firm run by CEO Jeremy Zimmer, is undergoing some cuts and is parting ways with about 10 agents whose contracts were not renewed, a source says. And two high-profile departures at the agency were also announced internally recently, including the exit of the executive who had been the co-lead on UTAs sports division. Andrew Thau, who spent nearly two decades at the agency and co-headed UTA Sports, is leaving the company. Andrew will be with us until the end of the year to assist in the transition and will continue to consult for UTA through part of 2025, wrote agency president David Kramer in a memo to staff obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. That sports division, which includes Klutch Sports and acquisitions like Euro soccer agency ROOF, will continue to be led by Rich Paul.

Andrea Nelson Meigs, a partner who had worked at UTA the last four years, is also departing at the end of this year. She will take a hiatus to pursue other opportunities and spend much needed time with her family after 25+ years of agenting, wrote talent co-chiefsChris Hart and Jay Gassnerin a separate note to staff. Meigs clients have included Courtney B. Vance, Beyonc, Ellen Burstyn and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor.

UTA, which competes with rivals CAA and WME for clients as full-service firms, counts more than 2,000 employees and has added about 20 agents to its team in 2024. The agency has also been subject to a raft of headlines this year after a rift broke out to the public between Michael Kassan, who ran the MediaLink division UTA bought for $125 million in 2021, and UTA leadership. That legal battle was moved to arbitration.

A spokesperson did not add additional comment on the departures at the agency.
