Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will meet with President Donald Trump on Thursday following a series of conflicting reports about Rosenstein’s future leading the Justice Department.

Early Monday, Axiosreported that Rosenstein had “verbally resigned,” setting off a succession of stories reporting Rosenstein would either resign or be fired.

Axioslater changed its story to say Rosenstein “offered to resign.”

The reports followed arecent news storystating that Rosenstein, either seriously or sarcastically, talked about "wearing a wire" in the White House.

Reports also indicated that Rosenstein,who oversees Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his Russia investigation, had discussed scenarios for removing President Trump from office using the 25th Amendment.

Joining us to discuss what could happen if Rosenstein leaves his post are Juliet Sorensen, professor in International Law at Northwestern University's Center for International Human Rights, and Patrick Collins, a partner at King and Spalding. Sorensen and Collins are also former assistant U.S. attorneys.
