It’s time to get those chairs, buckets and frozen pants out of the street. The unofficial grace period for the unofficial practice of dibs is officially over March 2, according to the Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation.

“At this time, we ask residents to be neighborly and help our crews clear streets of debris by picking up any items they may have on the street,” department Commissioner John Tully said.
Garbage collection remains delayed across Chicago due to last week’s heavy snowfall. Crews are working extended hours to catch up, and residents are advised to keep carts out and ready for collection.
