Mayor Lori Lightfoot calls for an “all-hands-on deck approach” after Chicago notched 89 homicides and 424 shootings in June, with murders up 34% and shootings up 45% for the first half of 2020 compared to the first half of last year.

The police union leadership says that arrests are down 55% because morale is reportedly at rock-bottom. The mayor says that talk is just the police union posturing for contract negotiations.
