In Springfield, a legislative committee looking into House Speaker Mike Madigan’s conduct hears testimony on a bribery scheme from a ComEd representative. Mayor Lori Lightfoot says she’s moving on from talks with community groups over a civilian police oversight board. And the city unveils a sweeping new plan to curb violence and improve public safety in Chicago, just as it’s reported that September was the most violent month here since 1993.

In sports, postseason Chicago baseball comes to an end for both the Cubs and White Sox. And the Chicago Bears prepare to take on the Colts, this time with Nick Foles as the starting quarterback.
