With Chicago’s next municipal election in early 2023, the coming year will see the races get into high gear.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot hasn’t yet announced whether she’ll run for reelection, but does say she welcomes a challenge from combative police union president John Catanzara. Chicago’s alderpeople will face their first election with the still-to-be-determined new ward maps.
