Nathan Fielder (The Curse) is as horrified by all of the recent commercial-aviation disasters as we all are you know, if he is ever to be taken seriously. In season two of his HBO series The Rehearsal, Fielder attempts to fix the crisis through, well, rehearsals.

HBO has released the trailer for The Rehearsal season two, which sees the Nathan for You alum approach officials with a revived plan to bring role-playing exercises to Federal Aviation Administration training.

Ive been studying commercial-aviation disasters as a hobby, and I started to notice a disturbing pattern in the causes of these crashes, Fielder says in the trailer. Fortunately, Fielder brings with him some experience with creating elaborate role-playing scenarios, he adds, and notes that he has HBOs money to put toward this.

But first, hell need actors and one hell of a team of set builders and designers. And for some reason not explicitly explained by the trailer, Fielder will also need to age himself up through prosthetics and makeup, don a mustache, and get married. And then he forms a female pop group, another mystery youll have to tune in to the season to unravel.

Its important to note here that season two has been in the works for a few years now, a source tells The Hollywood Reporter, so it is not a direct response to the late January 2025 collision between an American Airlines passenger jet and an Army helicopter above the nations capital, killing everyone aboard both aircraft, nor the Delta Air Lines that jet flipped over while landing at Torontos Pearson Airport in February.

The second season of The Rehearsal is comprised of six episodes. It premiers at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, April 20 on HBO following The Righteous Gemstones, and stream on Max.

The Rehearsal follows one mans journey to reduce the uncertainties of everyday life, the shows logline reads. With a construction crew, a legion of actors, and seemingly unlimited resources, Fielder helps ordinary people prepare for lifes biggest moments by rehearsing them in carefully crafted simulations of his own design.

For season two, it continues, the urgency of Fielders project grows as he decides to put his resources toward an issue that affects us all.

Fielder is star, writer, director and executive producer.The series is executive produced by Eric Notarnicola, Dave Paige and Christie Smith Dan McManus for Rise Management. The Rehearsal is co-executive produced by Kris Eber and Carrie Kemper and produced by Adam Locke-Norton. Notarnicola, Kemper and Locke-Norton are also writers on the series.
