It may have started as a joke, but now it looks like Elon Musk might be on to a new venture again: CNBC reports that this week, Tesla officially filed a trademark application with the U.S. Patent And Trademark Office for ‘Teslaquila’; the trademark is for “distilled agave liquor” and “distilled blue agave liquor.”

　　The so-far-fictitious beverage originally popped up on April 1, 2018, “as part of an April Fool’s prank in which Musk said on Twitter that his electric car company was going bankrupt and that he had been found ‘passed out against a Tesla Model 3, surrounded by ‘Teslaquila’ bottles.’”

　　We can’t say whether this application is just a precautionary measure to keep anyone else from cashing in on that sweet Teslaquila market or whether it’s an actual new Musk enterprise. CNBS notes that the application is for “an ‘intent to use’ trademark for Teslaquila, which means that it is currently not using it, but has a ‘good faith intention’ to use it in the future.”

　　Anyone else afraid that Teslaquila might have a faint tinge of gasoline or burned tires, à la Malort? We will reserve judgement until if/when this thing reaches fruition. Maybe Teslaquila will be the on-board beverage on your Musk-based SpaceX flight to the moon in 2023.
