Telemundo to Combine Entertainment Studios in Restructuring
Telemundo to Combine Entertainment Studios in Restructuring-March 2024
Mar 20, 2026 7:50 PM

Telemundo is restructuring its entertainment studios in an effort to produce more scripted content for its platforms. The new structure will see the Spanish-language media company merge its linear and streaming studios into one combined unit called Telemundo Studios. The move unifies the streaming studio, which was launched in 2021, with the more traditional studio business under a single roof.

NBCUniversalTelemundoEnterprises chairman Luis Fernandez unveiled the new structure Thursday.

At a time whenTelemundois the most-watched network in prime time, we are super-charging our scripted content production under one strong brand:TelemundoStudios, said Fernandez in a statement. For almost two decades,Telemundohas led in the production of Spanish language content made by Hispanics for Hispanics. With this streamlined structure, we are doubling down on our commitment to serve the Latino community with the best scripted content across all platforms for years to come. The changes will see Ronald Day elevated to a new role as president of entertainment and chief content officer for Telemundo, reporting to Fernandez. The new role will see Day add oversight of Telemundo Studios, in addition to his role overseeing entertainment and unscripted content for the network.

Day has also tapped Javier Ponsto be executive VP of Telemundo Studios, where he will lead all of the companys scripted productions.

Day was most recently president of entertainment and content strategy, while Pons was general director of Globomedia, one of Spains leading production companies.

I am thrilled to lead the newly consolidated team and continue to driveTelemundos momentum, said Day. We welcome Javier who brings tremendous expertise to this role and will help us leverage our extensive production know-how to continue to be the #1 producer of Spanish-language scripted content in the U.S.

The changes are some of the first big moves made in Telemundos entertainment division since Fernandez took over the business late last year. Earlier this year he also installed new leadership at Noticias Telemundo, the networks news division.
