This very traditional tartar sauce is better after resting a day or two in the refrigerator, giving the flavors a chance to meld.
Ingredients
Makes about 2 1/2 cups2 cups mayonnaise
2 tablespoons minced shallot or onion
2 tablespoons minced dill pickle
2 tablespoons sweet relish
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons drained capers
1/8 teaspoon hot sauce such as Tabasco

In medium bowl, whisk all ingredients to blend. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
