The audience at a THR Frontrunners panel in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon still wasnt over one of the shocking season one deaths in the Dan Fogelman apocalyptic thriller Paradise, months after it occurred.

During a panel discussion following a screening of episode four of the Hulu series in which Nicole Brydon Blooms agent Jane Driscoll kills her boyfriend, fellow agent Billy Pace, played by Jon Beavers, attendees began to lightly boo the actress on first speaking, which co-star and executive producer Sterling K. Brown jokingly shut down. Dont you do that; thats how good she is, Brown told the crowd, drawing a comparison to a Jekyll and Hyde-type character he used to portray during the stage play of Intimate Apparel at the Guthrie Theater that caused him to receive vociferous boos from attendees during curtain call each night. Thats a sweet girl a sweet, sweet girl whos a very good actor, he said of Bloom, so please dont boo her.

Backing up his co-star, Beavers added of his character being killed, Im not even mad. Thats how good she is.

The love among the cast continued to pour out as Krys Marshall, who stars as agent Nicole Robinson, recalled how she struggled to get her footing when they first began filming the show, whose action kicks off with the death of president Cal Bradford, played by James Marsden, in episode one. His death leads Robinson and Browns agent Xavier Collins to seek answers from Sinatra, played by Julianne Nicholson, the master architect of the underground bunker city in which they live, with brute force.

It was during filming of episode four in particular that Marshall admitted to her co-star that she felt she was having trouble finding her sea legs.

I confessed to Jon in some of our downtime, I said, I just dont think I know what Im doing, Marshall recalled. You were just so kind to me that day and reminded me youre where you need to be and youre doing what you need to be doing, she recounted to Beavers.

More praise came on the production front from Sarah Shahi, who stars as psychotherapist Dr. Gabriela Torabi on the show. During the conversation, she thanked Fogelman and Brown for their push for the series to film in Los Angeles. I was traveling for close to 17 years; I was on the road, and Im a single mom of three kids and it was always such a struggle anytime I had to leave, and then when I left for a longer period of time, Id pulled the kids out of school and it was just like the traveling circus, she told attendees. If it werent for Sterling, this show would not be here. He really exercised his power in a beautiful way, he and Dan, and it was because of him that the show is happening here, that people are able to be employed, that I can stay home with my children, she added. Its really beautiful when a person in a position of influence uses it in such a positive way.

Being back on the Paramount lot already for season two feels free and fantastic, said Brown, who explained why he fought to shoot in L.A. During the hiatus. I was blessed to do a few projects, but none of them here. I went to Louisiana, I went to France, I went to Australia, and I talked to a lot of my crew, and this is real talk, a lot of people left the city because its too expensive a place to live and not work. Folks are living in New Mexico, living in Tennessee, living wherever they are, but came back to do the show, he said. So Im really super hopeful that we can bring more production back to L.A. because we have the best crews. We have a talent pool full of people who want to be here because this city represents opportunity. So lets make sure we keep opportunities present in this place.
