Spotlight Politics: ComEd Bribery Scheme Ensnares Madigan-June 2024

The agreement ComEd reached to plead guilty to one count of bribery on Fridaysent shock waves through the political world when “Public Official A” was described as Michael Madigan, speaker of the Illinois House.

Now there are reports that U.S. Attorney John Lausch’s appeal for more evidence is panning out.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot on Monday spoke out again about her concern over ComEd and any elected officials’ misconduct.

Meanwhile, the bipartisan drumbeat for Madigan’s ouster is growing louder, but politicians are being careful by prefacing their demands with the phrase, “If the allegations are true.”
