Spanish family drama Querer took top prize at this years Series Mania television festival in Lille, winning best series in the international competition.
The show from the Spanish pay-TV network Moviestar+ follows a woman who leaves her marriage after 30 years and makes criminal allegations against her husband, forcing their two adult sons to choose who they believe.
The international Series Mania jury, led by Pamela Adlon, gave the best actress honor to Lili Reinhart for the Cooper Raiff-directed dramedy Hal Harper and the best actor prize to Luca Marinelli for his lead role in Joe Wrights political biopic Mussolini: Son of the Century. Moshe Zonder and Ronit Weiss Berkowitz took best writing for Lionsgate production The German. European political drama The Deal received a special mention from the international jury.
The audience award, voted on by festival attendees, went to Quebecois series Empathy.
In the French competition, 37 Secondes won best series. Elsa Guedj took best actress for Le Sens des Choses, while Arthur Dupont won best actor for La Famille Rose. The best original score honor went to Anthony DAmario and Edouard Rigaudire for Log Out.
The international panorama jury awarded best series to Spanish drama Celeste, with a special mention for the Belgian series Putain. Celeste star Carmen Machi also took best actress honors. Matthew Gurney took best actor for the British crime drama Reunion. Best director went to Ida Panahandeh for the Iranian series At the End of the Night.
Series Mania also announced its attendance figures, reporting a record 108,000 spectators, a 10,000 for the week-long festival, a 10,000 increase from last year. The festivals Forum section for industry attendees welcomed 5,000 industry professionals, including 500 buyers from 75 countries, a bump of 20 percent. Series Mania confirmed next years dates, which will see the festival running from March 20-27 in 2026 and the Forum running from March 24-26.
