Saturday Night Live writer Josh Patten poked fun at Morgan Wallens Instagram post following the country music stars abrupt exit from the NBC sketch show.
Wallen performed two songs on Saturday nights show from his upcoming album, Im the Problem, including the title track and Just in Case.
During the closing credits, Wallen was seen standing next to guest host Mikey Madison, a newly minted best actress Oscar winner for her role in Anora.
I had a wonderful time, thank you all, Madison said as the band played and the closing credits began to roll. Wallen then gave Madison a hug and said something in her ear and abruptly walked off the stage.
Afterward, he posted on his Instagram Stories an image of what looked like a private jet on the runway with the caption Get me to Gods country.
Patten poked fun at the post with his own photo posted to Instagram Stories. The photo showed a Krispy Kreme truck with the back end open, and the same caption (get me to Gods country) that Wallen used.
After one media outlet reported on Pattens photo, asking the question Guessing Pattens not a Morgan Wallen fan? the SNL writer then responded with an eyeroll emoji and added a photo of his Apple Music playlist from 2023, showing several Wallen songs among them.
Wallen has not explained the meaning behind his post. The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to reps for Wallen and SNL for comment.
Wallens appearance on Saturdays SNL marked his second ever on the show and his first since he was caught on video using the N-word while talking to a friend. He apologized for his use of the word, but his career suffered a temporary setback, with radio stations dropping him from airwaves and awards shows including the American Music Awards deciding not to invite him despite being a nominee. Still, he remains one of country musics most successful artists.
Im the Problemwill be released May 16.
