Sliced Tomato and Onion Salad with Russian Dressing Recipe
Sliced Tomato and Onion Salad with Russian Dressing Recipe-March 2024
Mar 31, 2026 10:36 PM

We came up with this salad, inspired by traditional burger fixin’s, to eat alongside cheeseburger casserole. It’s a match made in heaven. Try it with Turkey and Black Bean Burgers with Corny Salsa (page 44) or our Grilled Sausage, Pepper, and Onion Sub Sandwich (page 84).

Ingredients

serves 4 to 6

  3 tablespoons ketchup

  3 tablespoons mayonnaise

  2 tablespoons dill pickle relish

Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

3 medium beefsteak tomatoes, sliced into 1/4-inch rounds

1 small red onion, very thinly sliced

Step 1

To make the dressing: In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, mayonnaise, pickle relish, salt, and pepper. Whisk in 1 tablespoon of water, or enough to reach a pourable consistency.

Step 2

Arrange the tomatoes and onion on a large plate. Drizzle with the dressing before serving.
