Showtime Scraps ‘Uncoupled’ a Year After Reviving It-September 2024

Former Netflix series Uncoupled wont be going forward at Showtime after all.

The news comes a year after Showtime revived the comedy which is produced by Paramount Global sibling MTV Entertainment Studios following a cancellation at Netflix. The decision to scuttle the show comes after some work to rejigger it to fit the sensibilities of Showtime now known as Paramount+ With Showtime after the premium cable outlet was integrated into Paramounts flagship streaming platform.

Reps for Showtime couldnt be reached for comment. Season two of Uncoupled, which stars Neil Patrick Harris as a man trying to put his life back together after breraking up with his long-time boyfriend (Tuc Watkins), had been slated to film last summer but was delayed during dual strikes by writers and actors. Tisha Campbell, Brooks Ashmanskas, Emerson Brooks and Marcia Gay Harden also starred in season one.

Darren Star, who has an overall deal at Paramount Global, and Jeffrey Richman (Modern Family) created the series and executive produced with Harris and Lilly Burns. Jax Media produced alongside MTV Entertainment Studios.

Uncoupled premiered on Netflix in July 2022 to mostly favorable reviews The Hollywood Reporter critic Angie Han praised its wry humor and self-awareness but it didnt make a big splash with viewers. The show landed in Netfixs internal top 10 rankings just once, a week after its release, and never made Nielsens U.S. streaming charts.
