WithCOVID-19 restrictions now loosened in Chicago, the Shedd Aquarium has announced its plan to reopen to members on Jan. 27 and the general public on Jan. 30.

Ticket sales begin at noon on Jan. 21 for members and Jan. 23 for non-members.

The aquarium, along with other museums,closed for the second timein November following a surge in coronavirus cases.

Shedd’s animal care and conservation programs have continued during the COVID-19 shutdown, even as the aquarium lost tens of millions of dollars in admission revenues,WTTW News previously reported.

A number of health and safety precautions are in place as the Shedd welcomes back guests. They include: limited building capacity, timed ticket entry, mask requirements,hand sanitizer stations, one-directional pathways and the enforcement of any active travel advisories for the city and state.
