Ingredients
Makes about 1 cup1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
Bring sugar and water to a simmer in a small saucepan, stirring until sugar is dissolved, then simmer 5 minutes. Cool syrup completely.
Cooks' note:
Syrup keeps, covered and chilled, 3 months. Leftover syrup can be used to sweeten iced tea and lemonade.
