Jack Reacher, the character, is famously a very big guy. His namesake series continues to follow in that image.
Season three of Reacher grabbed its biggest audience to date over its first two-plus weeks of release, according to internal figures from Amazon. The show brought in 54.6 million viewers worldwide in the 19 days after its Feb. 20 premiere a slight uptick from season two over the same amount of time to become the biggest returning series (i.e., season two or later) in the streamers records.
Amazon further says Reacher season three is Prime Videos biggest premiere since Fallout brought in 65 million viewers over its first 16 days in April 2024. Only that show and season one of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power had more viewers over a similar time frame. The 19-day period includes the first five episodes of Reachers third season; the sixth debuted early Thursday. U.S. viewing figures for the shows premiere week will be available from Nielsen on March 20.
The numbers for Reacher are ahead of a couple other big Prime Video releases from recent months: Cross amassed 40 million viewers worldwide over 20 days in November and early December (with a full-season release), and season two of The Rings of Power captured 40 million viewers in 11 days after its August 2024 premiere. Its unclear whether the 54.6 million viewers for Reacher is an average minute audience (the closest streaming analog to Nielsens linear TV ratings) or the number of people who have watched at least a few minutes of the current season.
