In recent years, pomegranates have emerged as one of the healthiest fruits due to their powerful antioxidants. Here’s a quick spin on plain oatmeal you can enjoy for its delicious flavor while reaping the great benefits of this superfood.

Ingredients

makes 1 (scant 1-cup) serving

  1/2 cup water

  1/2 cup 100% pomegranate juice

  Pinch salt

  1/2 cup old-fashioned oats

1 to 2 teaspoons brown sugar, not packed

Step 1

Bring the water, juice, and salt to a rapid boil in a small saucepan over high heat. Add the oats and turn the heat to medium. Cook the oats 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the liquid is almost absorbed. Cover the pan and remove it from the heat. Allow it to sit 5 minutes, and then stir in the sugar.
