Pierce Brosnan was piling on the praise for his MobLand wife Helen Mirren at the U.K. premiere of the Guy Ritchie-directed, ice-cool Paramount series.
The former James Bond star spoke to The Hollywood Reporter on the white carpet in Londons Leicester Square about starring alongside Mirren in his first film, The Long Good Friday (1980). The two reunite in Ritchies MobLand premiering exclusively on Paramount+ on March 30 as crime couple Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, while Tom Hardy plays their fixer, Harry Da Souza.
We enjoy each others company a lot, Brosnan told THR. Im a great admirer of Helens work. I think shes a beautiful woman. Ive admired her from afar for many years and my first movie was with her but it wasnt really with her. I was just somewhere in the film. Its a movie called The Long Good Friday. Shes a powerhouse of a woman, a powerhouse of an actress. Shes got a lot of heart, a lot of soul. I love her to bits, the Irish actor added.
MobLand, created by Ronan Bennett and written by Jez Butterworth, began asThe Donovans, an origin story to the Showtime series theRay Donovan. But as it was developed further, it was reworked into its own standalone story.

The Hollywood Reporter (@THR) March 27, 2025 Brosnan delved into what he thinks the series brings to the table in an oversaturated TV market, as well as how he lured Mirren on board while filming Chris Columbus The Thursday Murder Club: It remains to be seen what it brings to the table, [but] I think it brings a lot, actually. I think its a powerful story. I think its beautifully written by Jez Butterworth. Its one of the reasons why I said yes to it.
Ronan Bennett was very much a part of it as well, and created it with Guy Ritchie. When they sent me the five episodes, I said yes. Then to Helen I said, Are you gonna do it? Cause we were working on Thursday Murder Club. She said: Ill read it, and she did and she said, I love it. Im in.
Then came the great Tom Hardy. And were off to the races.
Ritchie, Hardy and Mirren were all in attendance at the Thursday night premiere, as well as cast members Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon and Jasmine Jobson.
Executive producer and director Anthony Byrne was in good spirits at the event and full of compliments for his cast. I havent worked with a cast like this in one show. I think thats very exciting for audiences to see that mix of Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, he told THR. That alone is to make it stand out.
The vibe was always really good, Bryne said about the cast chemistry on set. I know Tom from Peaky [Blinders] so it was a pleasure to work with him again and really get into the arc of the story and character, rather than a cameo of [Hardys Peaky character] Alfie Solomons. That was a real thrill, to spend that time and do a deep-dive with him. And weirdly it was not intimidating to be be around Helen and Pierce given their stature.
