Paramount Motion Picture group chief Michael Ireland will be departing Paramount amid the studios merger with Skydance, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Sources say he will consult for the studio and is considering an offer for a producing deal.
The news comes a day after as Skydance chief David Ellison revealed his executive team for the new Paramount, including tapping Skydance chief content officer Dana Goldberg and former Sony Pictures exec Josh Greenstein to lead the Paramount studio as co-chairs, a position presently held solely by Brian Robbins.
Skydance veteran Don Granger will lead the film production side, essentially taking over for Ireland among other duties, though Grangers role hasnt yet been officially announced.
Ireland started his career at MTV and then moved to Leonardo DiCaprios Apian Way in 2007, before joining 20th Century Fox in 2012, where he rose to senior vp, production, overseeing Ryan Reynolds Free Guy. Ireland moved from Fox to Paramount in late 2020, where he led the studios production efforts with Daria Cercek, who departed for Disney earlier this year.
Under his tenure at Paramount, he worked on films such as Ridley Scotts Gladiator II, Sandra Bullocks The Lost City, Top Gun: Maverick, the Transformers franchise and the latest Mission: Impossible films, among many others.
