Nearly 12 years after it began, Outlander will come to a close in 2026.

Starz has set a March 6 premiere date for the eighth and final season of Outlander, which will conclude the story of Claire (Caitrona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). The premiere will come a little over a year after the conclusion of season seven, which wrapped in January.

The Outlander franchise will continue after the series finale, however, as prequel series Blood of My Blood has been renewed for a second season. At eight seasons and 101 episodes (the final installment will run for 10 episodes) by the time of the series finale, Outlander is the longest-running original series in Starz history. The show from Sony Pictures Television is based on Diana Gabaldons novels.

The synopsis for the final season reads, Jamie and Claire find the Revolutionary War has followed them home to Frasers Ridge, now a thriving settlement that has grown and flourished in their absence. With new arrivals and changes made during their years away, the Frasers are confronted with the question of what they are willing to sacrifice for the place they call home and, more importantly, what they would sacrifice to stay together. While the Frasers keep a united front against outside intruders, family secrets finally coming to light threaten to tear them apart from the inside. Although theyve left the war for Americas freedom behind, their fight for Frasers Ridge has only just begun.

Along with Balfe and Heughan, the Outlander cast includes Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, John Bell, David Berry, Charles Vandervaart and Izzy Meikle-Small.
