Sep 16, 2025 9:06 AM

Noah Wyle took home the 2025 Emmy Award for best actor in a drama series Sunday night for his role in HBO Maxs The Pitt.

Sundays Emmy nomination was Wyles first since 1999 for another medical procedural, ER. In his acceptance speech, Wyle said working on the HBO Max medical procedural, which became a near-instant hit for the platform, has been a dream.

The actor thanked HBO Max and Warner Bros. Television, who also produced ER, for allowing the conditions to exist for lightning to strike in my life twice. He added, John Wells, thank you for being that lightning. Wells executive produced both ER and The Pitt, serving as showrunner for four seasons of the former. Wyle, who plays Dr. Michael Robby Robinavitch in the series, ended his speech thanking the healthcare community, which has largely supported the show. To anyone whos going on shift tonight or coming off shift tonight, thank you for being in that job, he told the crowd, met with cheers. This is for you.

The Pitt took home multiple trophies at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards Sunday. In addition to Wyle, Katherine LaNasa won best supporting actress in a drama series. The show also took home the award for best drama series. During the speech for that win, healthcare workers and first responders were also a bit topic of conversation with the shows creator R. Scott Gemmill dedicating the award to them and urging the audience to resepct them, protect them [and] trust them.
