Nicholas Hoult has signed on to star in the untitled bank heist thriller that David Leitch is directing for Amazon MGM Studios and Imagine Entertainment.
Leitch will also produce with wife and producing partner Kelly McCormick via their 87North banner, alongside Imagines Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody and Allan Mandelbaum.
Amazon, Imagine and 87North are keeping plot details locked in a vault, but the script is written by Mark Bianculli, who was a writer and consulting producer on Amazons Nazi hunting showHunters. Sources tellThe Hollywood Reporterthat the story centers on a group of savvy bank robbers who use social media to document their heists, playing a cat-and-mouse game with police. Bianculli and Imagine have spent the better part of a decade developing the project, accordingto sources. It is unclear who Hoult would play.
A summer shoot is being planned, and Amazon is planning to release the feature in theaters.
Hoult is coming off a trio of starring turns late last year that showcased his range, playing a cold white supremacist in Justin Kurzels The Order, a conflicted husband in Clint Eastwoods Juror No. 2, and a man fighting a despicable vampire in Robert Eggers lush Gothic drama Nosferatu.
Next up, Hoult stars in James Guns Superman as Lex Luthor, one of the most iconic villains in all of comics. The film opens worldwide on July 11.
Hoult is repped by UTA, Sloane Offer, and UK management firm 42.
