‘Ne Zha 2,’ China’s Record Setter, Gets Beijing Fest Exhibition of Director Jiaozi’s Hand-Painted Posters-May 2024

Ne Zha 2, Chinas animated mega-blockbuster, is getting another, and very special, way to excite fans and the entertainment industry. The Beijing International Film Festival has unveiled that an exhibition featuring 150 posters for the movie hand-painted by director Yang Yu, who goes by the name Jiaozi, will take place during its 15th edition, which runs April 18-26.

Enlight Media recently sold the movie across Europe.Ne Zha 2is already the highest-grossing animated film in movie history. Since its release over Chinese New Year in January, it has earned more than $2 billion in China. In North America,Ne Zha 2opened on Feb. 14 and has performed far better than most Chinese commercial blockbusters do in the West. The Beijing festival will promote the milestone breakthrough for Chinese animated movies as the films box office miracle continues, organizers said. The Beijing International Film Festival has always been committed to building a bridge between filmmakers and audiences. The Ne Zha 2 hand-painted poster exhibition is a gift from the 15th Beijing International Film Festival to the Chinese animation film industry and the majority of movie fans.

Part of he exhibition will be a merchandising area including such products as plush dolls, picture books, and key chains, according to the fest.

Ne Zha 2is an imaginative twist on Chinese mythology and a famous 16th-century novel. The film is a sequel to what was previously Chinas top-earning animated movie. In the originalNe Zha(2019), the namesake hero is born an underdog and the reincarnation of a demon who must overcome his fate to save his village. In the sequel,Ne Zhafaces new trials as he challenges the corrupt gods and demons who oversee the heavens.

The Ne Zha 2 exhibition will be held at the Central Station cultural hub at Beijings Langyuan Station.
