Arthouse distributor andstreaming service Mubi has acquired all rights in key markets toSentimental Value, Joachim Triers latest feature film,which will premierein competitionat the 78th Cannes Film Festival, as unveiled on Thursday.

Mubi has taken all rights to the movie in the U.K., Ireland, Latin America, Turkey and India. Theatrical release plans will be announced in coming months, it said. Neon previously acquired the movie for North America. mk2 Films is handling sales for all other territories.

Directed by Trierand co-written by him and long-time collaboratorEskil Vogt(The Worst Person in the World, Oslo, August 31st),Sentimental ValuestarsRenate Reinsve(The Worst Person in the World),Stellan Skarsgrd(Dune),Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas(A Beautiful Life),andElle Fanning(A Complete Unknown). The film is described as a comedy-drama about a family in Oslo, the house they have lived in for generations, and of how the past can resurface in unexpected ways.

The deal marks the second time Mubi has worked with Trier having distributed his last feature film,The Worst Person in the World, in the U.K., Ireland, India and Turkey.

Joachim Triers sixth film is an intimate and moving exploration of family, memories, and the reconciliatory power of art, Mubi said.

The Norwegian director and screenwriter has previously drawn praise for his filmsReprise(2006),Oslo, August 31st(2011) which premiered in Cannes Un Certain Regard section,Louder Than Bombs(2015), selected in the Cannes competition,Thelma(2017), andThe Worst Person in the World(2021), which premiered in competition at the 2021 Cannes fest.
