Minnesota dairy princesses to be immortalized in butter sculpture
Minnesota dairy princesses to be immortalized in butter sculpture-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 3:17 PM

Stop the (online) presses: The Midwest Dairy Association has crowned its 65th Princess Kay Of The Milky Way. The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that 20-year-old college student Rebekka Paskewitz, representing Todd County, Minnesota, was selected out of 12 county dairy princesses at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in Falcon Heights in a ceremony last Wednesday night.

Paskeewitz is thrilled, as you might imagine, as she will spend the year as a goodwill ambassador representing agricultural families in the region. Already at the fair, she and her fellow finalists have participated in events like a Milk Run, Dairy Pictionary, and several parades. But the greatest honor is awarded not only to Paskeewitz but all of her fellow princesses: her likeness carved out in a butter sculpture.

Who among us will ever have such a (temporary, but still) honor to our own likeness? Far too few, that’s for sure. The sculptures apparently weigh about 90 pounds, and some of the recipients will reportedly hold a pancake breakfast, using their heads as the butter. All the congrats to the new Princess Kay Of The Milky Way and her fellow butter sculpture subjects.
