It seems like Quentin Tarantino will never be able to escape his long-running foot fetish rumors.
During a recent conversation on Amy Poehlers Good Hang podcast, Maya Hawke was asked if her mom, Oscar-nominated actress Uma Thurman, gave her any advice about working with Quentin?
Thurman starred in three of Tarantinos most iconic films, 1994s Pulp Fiction, 2003s Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and 2004s Kill Bill: Vol. 2, before her daughter later appeared in his 2019 pic, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The Stranger Things star didnt waste any time with her response, Keep your shoes on, as she and Poehler broke out in laughter.
Keep them on, baby. Keep those shoes on, the SNL alum quipped after. Perfect advice. Perfect.
Throughout his Hollywood career, the two-time Oscar-winning filmmaker has been accused of having an obsession with feet. Thats because hes featured several shots of womens bare feet in his films, including those of Margot Robbie,Margaret QualleyandDakota Fanning.
Tarantino has been teased about it for years, including by Brad Pitt, who jokingly called him out whileaccepting his SAG Award in 2020 for best supporting actor for his role as Cliff Booth in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
I want to thank my co-stars, [Leonardo DiCaprio], Margot Robbie, Margot Robbies feet, Margaret Qualleys feet, Dakota Fannings feet, the actor said, drawing laughter from the audience. Seriously, Quentin has separated more women from their shoes than the TSA.
However, Tarantino doesnt seem to let the rumors bother him much, as he told GQ in 2021, I dont take it seriously. He also defended his decision to focus on womens feet in his projects.
Theres a lot of feet in a lot of good directors movies. Thats just good direction, the filmmaker said at the time. Like, before me, the person foot fetishism was defined by was Luis Buuel, another film director. And Hitchcock was accused of it and Sofia Coppola has been accused of it.
