‘Marshals’ Earns Fast Season 2 Renewal at CBS-May 2024

After a big premiere and a second episode that held onto most of that audience CBS Yellowstone spinoff Marshals is getting a second season.

The network announced a speedy renewal for Marshals on Thursday, 12 days after its series debut. The pickup comes after the best start for a scripted network series in several years. Marshals joins a host of other CBS series, including fellow first-year dramas Sheriff Country and Boston Blue, in the networks lineup for 2026-27.

Marshals opened with 9.52 million viewers for its initial airing on CBS March 1 and grew to an eye-popping 20.6 million viewers after a week of streaming and other delayed viewing. For comparison, thats about 6.5 million more viewers than the top non-sports series this season (Tracker at 14.07 million) averages over a week of cross-platform viewing. Delayed viewing numbers for the second episode of Marshals wont be available for a week or so, but its on-air audience of 8.4 million held up very nicely from the premiere.

Marshalsdelivered a breakout performance, capturing a massive audience across platforms and quickly establishing itself asoneof TVsmost powerful new series, CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach said in a statement. Theoverwhelmingviewerresponse speaks to the strength of the Yellowstone world, thebold character driven storytelling from thecreative team andthe dynamic cast performances led byLuke Grimes.

Grimes reprises his Yellowstone role as Kayce Dutton in Marshals, with the character joining a team of federal marshals working in Montana. Logan Marshall-Green, Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos and Tatanka Means also star, along with returningYellowstoneactors Mo Brings Plenty, Brecken Merrill and Gil Birmingham.

Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios produceMarshals. Creator and showrunner Spencer Hudnut executive produces with Yellowstone creators Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, David Glasser, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Freidman, Grimes and Greg Yaitanes.
