Mark Hamill Set to Receive CinemaCon’s Icon Award-May 2024

To a galaxy of moviegoers, Mark Hamill is already a screen icon but this week in Las Vegas, hell be properly honored with a Cinema Icon trophy during CinemaCons Big Screen Achievement Awards.

The Star Wars star and veteran actor will accept the shine during Thursday nights ceremony inside the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. It arrives during what will be a busy 2025 for Hamill who has three films out this year. He will soon appear in Francis Lawrences adaptation of The Long Walk, the first-written novel by legendary scribe Stephen King, from Lionsgate. He then has a turn opposite Tom Hiddleston in Neons The Life of Chuck, which won the TIFF Audience Award in 2024, followed by a role as the Flying Dutchman in Paramounts The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants. Mark Hamills career is proof that great characters dont just live on the screen they live within us, galvanizing generations of audiences worldwide, said Cinemacons managing director Mitch Neuhauser. This Cinema Icon Award honors not just an actor, but a legacy of incredible work that extends beyond the screen and continues to inspire us all.

Hamill is best known for starring as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise. His other credits include The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Kingsman: The Secret Service, The Machine, Brigsby Bear, The Wild Robot, The Boy and the Heron, Batman: The Animated Series and the video game Arkham City.

CinemaCons closing night awards event will fete Glen Powell, Channing Tatum, Lindsay Lohan, Ana de Armas, Cheech Chong, David Jonsson, Madeleine McGraw and Ben Wang. The Big Screen Achievement Awards, hosted by CinemaCons official presenting sponsor the Coca-Cola Company, will be fronted by Entertainment Tonights Kevin Frazier.

CinemaCon, the annual gathering of exhibitors and Hollywood studios, is presented at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas by Cinema United, formerly known as the National Association of Theater Owners. This years edition runs from March 31 to April 3.
