In the ever-evolving world of pop culture, Dracula has donned numerous guises, from sailing the seas to managing a hotel, and even grappling with melancholy after his wifes tragic demise. Audiences have hungrily embraced these various iterations of the iconic vampire, with filmmaker Luc Besson joining the ranks of those fascinated by the Count. As reported by Variety, the director behind Valerian is set to helm an adaptation of Bram Stokers 1897 classic novel, titled Dracula - A Love Tale. This ambitious project is envisioned as a big-budget reinterpretation that delves into the origin story of the Prince of Darkness. Caleb Landry Jones, who collaborated with Besson on DogMan in 2023, will portray the 15th-century Prince Vladimir. After cursing God for the loss of his wife, Vladimir transforms into a vampire. Centuries later, in 19th-century London, he encounters a woman bearing a striking resemblance to his deceased love, leading him down a path of affection turned obsession. Currently, Christoph Waltz is the only other ed cast member, although his specific role in the narrative remains undisclosed. Deadline adds that negotiations are ongoing with several other high-profile actors for key parts, with the film leaning more heavily into the gothic romance aspects of the character. The coming years promise a feast for fans of classic horror icons. Universal Pictures Abigail, a modern reimagining of the 1936 film Draculas Daughter, is due in April. Robert Eggers is also working on his own version of Dracula in Nosferatu, anticipated for release this year. Meanwhile, Maggie Gyllenhaal is directing a new Bride of Frankenstein movie, while Guillermo del Toro tackles a separate Frankenstein adaptation. Rounding out the lineup, Leigh Whannells Wolf Man is scheduled to hit theaters in October.
