Kids’ crayon creations

　　Recently, I was out for lunch with friends who had two kids; their son is around six. He was coloring on the placemat, and told me he was drawing a pig drinking out of a straw. That is ... not what the drawing looked like. But the profane pig is nothing compared to the tales servers recount in this Mashable piece about horrific, hilarious kids’ doodles at restaurants. Minority Report

　　Okay, so I know what I said yesterday, but I may have a new favorite Tom Cruise sci-fi movie now. Pretty sure I’ve only seen Minority Report once before this but I couldn’t believe how much I loved it. Maybe bringing the kids was a mistake, because parts was pretty intense (we all hid during the eye surgery), but it’s a Spielberg-directed 2054 whodunit with more twists than Blade Runner. But instead of fluorescent, it’s muted and gritty (even with the sideways cars), which somehow makes it even more effective. Like Edge Of Tomorrow, I feel like this one kind of slips under the radar, and deserves a rewatch. [Gwen Ihnat]
