WKRP set the standard for Thanksgiving episodes

With the holiday tomorrow, you’ll likely have some downtime for some Thanksgiving-themed TV watching. My post-turkey binge always includes my favorite Thanksgiving episode of all time: WKRP In Cincinnati’s season-one highlight “Turkeys Away.” A promo for the radio station goes awry when a stunt involving releasing live turkeys from an airplane is felled by simple gravity, leading the birds to hit the ground “like sacks of wet cement.” The Hindenburg-esque commentary by newsman Les Nessman is stellar, and station owner Arthur Carlson is befuddled beyond recognition. I never miss it (especially now that it’s available on Hulu). Whatever you end up watching, hope you and yours have a wonderful (and safe) holiday, Takeout readers! [Gwen Ihnat]

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

This year, I’ll be spending Thanksgiving with some small humans under the age of six, so family-friendly is the name of the game. Thankfully, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is good for kids but not insufferable for adults. Also, the special turns 45 (!!) this year—now that’s staying power. [Kate Bernot]
