Koschman Death Investigation Ends
Koschman Death Investigation Ends-December 2024
Dec 14, 2025 12:09 PM

Special prosecutor Dan Webb announced that there will be no new indictments in the death investigation of 21-year-old David Koschman. Mayor Richard M. Daley's nephew, Richard Vanecko, was charged with involuntary manslaughter in Koschman's 2004 death. Today's anouncement means that the special grand jury has ended its investigation into how Chicago Police and Cook County prosecutors handled the controversial case. Webb has filed a 162-page report about how authorities handled the investigation but the report is sealed, pending the trial of Vanecko. Carol Marin has more details.
