Korea will be the inaugural country of honor at this years Banff World Media Festival as the TV industry conference and market spotlights the growing strength of K-content internationally.
Korean TV is popping worldwide after the success of Squid Game, now headed to a third season on Netflix. The Korean industry will have a big presence in the Canadian Rockies. The Korea Creative Content Agency will lead a delegation of top Korean producers and talent at Banffs 46th edition to run June 8 to 11, in Banff, Alberta.
K-content will also receive a tribute at the Rockie Awards on June 9. Korea has emerged as a powerhouse in global entertainment, captivating audiences worldwide with its innovative storytelling and world-class productions. We look forward to welcoming Korean creators to Banff and fostering new opportunities for international collaboration, Jenn Kuzmyk, Banff executive director, said in a statement on Thursday. Banff also announced the 2025 Diversity of Voices participants for its 2025 event where under-represented professionals get an chance to network and do deals with top industry professionals. The Diversity of Voices initiative, now in its eighth year, is backed by Netflix, the Black Screen Office, the Indigenous Screen Office, Reelworld Screen Institute and the Disability Screen Office.
